| The Shadow Angel Foundation gave away 31 weather radios, through WPSD-TV 6, during the month of May of 2004. This was one weather radio per day. The NOAA WX Radio giveaway was in remembrance of the May 2003 tornadoes. The program has since been expanded by WPSD and viewers can now purchase REECOM Radios at a discount price. To date more than 8000 weather radios have been distributed throughout the region. WSIL TV 3, located in Carbondale, Illinois, has also picked up on the program and is helping residents in their viewing area to also purchase weather radios. |
