Have given seed money to a new group that has formed in Massac County called "The Encourager's Club" - started by Kay Comer.  They are going to find projects - local projects - to help children who are in need. She has several great ideas and has already helped several children.  Kay will be working with local volunteers to help her with ideas and projects.  I will post updates as I receive them.

There have been several projects over the last few months.  Unfortunately, the Southern Seven Head Start Center in Joppa, Illinois has had to close.  The building was sold.  The center will merge with the Metropolis, Illinois center.  Hopefully they will have a smooth transition.  They will be able to take some of the equipment we donated with them.  The Shadow Angel Foundation has purchased two computers for the Metropolis Center.  Along with the computers we are getting them two new monitors and printers.  Hopefully they will be able to put them to good use.

Also, in May, we had another teddy bear campaign.  This time the teddy bears were donated to the Purchase Area Sexual Assault Center in Paducah, Kentucky.  Several hundred teddy bears were donated to them.

We have also registered www.tangibleprojects.com and .org  We are going to work on this site in the coming months.  It will provide information on local charities.  Still working on the idea.

Outside of the foundation we have purchased 15 bunk beds and a washing machine for an orphanage in India.  Their website can be viewed here.

Don't forget you can visit my weather web-site for information on how to order NOAA Weather Radios and updated weather forecasts, current conditions, and much much more.

Over the last few weeks I have been working on the 2008 Teddy Bear Project. We finally have some bears on order from Gund. It looks like this might be a near record number of bears! I have been asked to get some extra bears for the area police stations. So that means a few hundred extra bears. This is going to push the bear budget to its limit! Anyone wanting to donate may do so by following the donation/help link. A special thank you to Nancy Gomez at Gund Bears for working with us on this project.

I also helped the Southern Seven Health Department with a new computer for the Joppa Head Start Center. They were in serious need of an upgrade!

I contacted the Denver Children's Home about some of their needs. They were recently shown on the television show "Oprah's Big Give". They have a long list of in-kind needs. I am going to try and donate a few items to help them out!

I have started a new blog - "Bloom". You can visit the site here.

Have been working with the American Red Cross on local activities. Continue to find ways to expand our program and outreach in the local community. Have become interested in the KIVA Project. Many of you may have heard about KIVA on the national news. A new book called "Giving" by Bill Clinton is a must read. Informative and an eye-opener as to what you can do to help your community and the world.

I should try to remember to update my news section of the web site. Life has been busy for the last six months. When isn't it busy though? We had another successful teddy bear campaign for the Rape Crisis Center and Child Watch of Paducah. Over 500 teddy bears were donated to both charities. Those involved with the work there tell me that the children love the bears. They especially like to pick out their own bear. I will have to remember to mix them up a bit. We purchased the bears from GUND this time around instead of RUSS Bears. RUSS Bears didn't have the kind we normally purchase.

I can't keep up with the news page! So busy with school and everything else that is going on. The big thing this month will be a trip to Washington D.C. for the Mark Trail Award. I am certainly excited to be honored like that. There are so many other people that deserve to be recognized. I never feel like I have done anything special. I can think of a million other people that have done more.

We are still working on the radio project and the ERV. This will all take time! It is also about time for more teddy bears to be purchased! I am going to try and purchase more than last time. Perhaps a 1000 or 2000. Not sure what the price will be. I am hoping to get a better price than last time.

Working on raising money for new radio equipment for the local chapter of the American Red Cross. We are still working on the ERV Project. Slow going...but making progress!

The new Shadow Angel Logo is completed. I am not getting the first one framed. This will be print number 1 of 1000.

The Shadow Angel Foundation is currently working on several projects. We are assisting the American Red Cross in their efforts to raise money for a new communications system. They currently do not have the capability to communicate on the new 800 MHz radio bands. The local chapter is in desperate need of new radios. The cost is going to be between $6000 and $7000 dollars. There is a fund raiser planned by a local business during the first part of August. They are hoping to raise 10-20% of the funds during that event.

The foundation is also working with the chapter to eventually purchase an ERV. This is an Emergency Response Vehicle. The ERV would be used on local disasters including single family fires. The ERV will likely cost around $65,000.00.

This is a photograph of the ERV I drove in Mississippi last year after Hurricane Rita. The Paducah Area Chapter had numerous volunteers help out along the Gulf Coast. This is the type of vehicle, that the Red Cross, would like to purchase for the Paducah Area Chapter.
